Halloween!!

October is slowly coming to an end; November will be here before we know it and, Halloween has finally arrived.  Everyone is scurrying to get those last minute costumes.  Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and everywhere imaginable is just packed with people getting ready for the up and coming season. Whether its candy for the trick-o-treaters or just a costume hunt, people are searching like mad dogs.  Many think that costumes are a waste of money because they will never be worn again and yes for the kiddo that is indeed correct, but when you’re a teenager some of those crazy costumes may come in handy in the future.

Here are a few tips when buying a Halloween costume that can be worn again. Dressing up as a hippie, because the seventies look never gets old.  The main tip is dress up as a person from the past, there will always be a fifties party or even an eighties party. They are fun and the dress up opportunity is an enjoyable one.  Get those plat-form shoes and psychedelic dresses and treasure them; they just might come in handy one day.

When searching for the perfect costume maybe step outside the box and head to the consignment store; ones man’s trash is another man’s treasure.  The same goes for second-hand vintage shops.   No telling what these stores have to offer.  The prices are better and so are the finds, so save a little money and have a better costume.  It’s a win win situation so bargain shop this Halloween.  In the future it won’t be hard finding an outfit for the party. Just pull out the old one, or even head to the vintage stores and have some more fun searching for the best costume ever.

If Halloween wasn’t first on the priority list there is still hope, there are a few last minute costume ideas that will look great.   Dress up as an actor or actress, which seems pretty manageable.  Maybe even dress up as a schoolteacher, a nerd, hey maybe even one of the presidential candidates.  There are so many easy routes to take in the Halloween season. Be creative with your ideas and it will definitely pay off in the end.  From here on out make the best out of the Halloween season, buy a pumpkin, get some good ole candy corn, and last but not least dress up like there is no tomorrow.

Closet Cleanliness is a Must!

Closets can some times be very overwhelming, jeans are everywhere, sweaters are un-neatly folded on the shelves, and shoes are strewn everywhere.  There is a solution for everything, including this closet madness.  Yes, there are some pieces of clothing that bring great memories and that will never leave the very back of the closet, creating much unnecessary clutter; but there is a way to change this.  In every girls closet there is usually a tremendous amount of clothes, when in reality there are only five basic pieces necessary to having great outfits day to day.  One may think, only five pieces?  That is in fact correct.

A good pair of dress pants, a polished white button down blouse, a stylish pair of stilettos, and that little black dress.   However, a great pair of boots, a beautiful winter coat, the purse you cant live with out, and of course

accessories are a must as well.  Adding these other items to the closet is a-ok, but just do not go crazy and buy things unnecessary those unnecessary items will just create more and more clutter, which is in the opposite direction that is being aimed for.

When purchasing the must have objects in making the closet malfunction go away, smart shopping is the key.  Think about what would come of the coat that looks great at the moment, do not just buy on impulse.  Maybe even keep the tags on the object so an item return is still a possibility.   Vintage is great, but sometimes it is time to let go of the oldie Goldie clothes that are creating much untidiness in closets.  Be a smart shopper in the future it may benefit not only in the money aspect but the clutter aspect as well.  Although keeping the clothing load and the amount of shoes purchased is a definite in keeping a closet tidy, the organizational aspect is a key fact as well.  If storage space is low buy large plastic storage containers to keep stray items from creating even more chaos in the closet and even getting lost as well.

Keeping a closet clean and organized is a tough task, but definitely a manageable one.   In the long run having a tidy closet will be a great benefit, especially when it comes to finding that certain sweater or that killer pair of shoes that is nowhere to be found.  Girls keep the closets looking good and clean, it’s a must.

Help Our Animals!!

I love animals more than anything. My family has had three bunnies, many cats, a turtle, several dogs and lastly a snake. We have loved each and every one of them like crazy, just like they were family.  I could never imagine hurting or abandoning my animals on the street, that would be like abusing a family member. Why would anyone hurt their animals or put them in an unsuitable situation You wouldn't do that to family so why would you do it to the animals we love the most?

Thanks to the humane society many of these animals have a place to go, but before we know it there will be no room for all of the animals, and what a problem that would be!  In the future there will be no place for these helpless animals because so many people abandon them, so go to the shelter and adopt an animal today!  What a great feeling to know you saved an animal's life.

Beauty is Only Skin Deep

Many young girls today compare themselves to the women seen in high fashion magazines, some are incredibly thin and some are drop dead gorgeous. What many people don't see is that these girls are air brushed like crazy to hide all of their flaws. Not one of these girls are photographed and put in the magazines just exactly as they are. Right now, and especially in the future, some young girls could feel pressured to look just like these models.  It could even force them to turn to bulemia or aneroxia.           The magazine producers need to see that average women are beautiful as well and not just physically but mentally as well. W, Vouge, InStyle, and sevral other high in magazines show these models that just look sickly thin, and its not attrictive what so ever. Being like these girls isn't the way to go, just because they apper in the top fashion magizines and are know all over they world doesn't mean they are happy. Be happy in your own skin, dont try to be someone your not. Beauty is only skin deep.

What is Fashion to You?

The standard definition of fashion is a prevailing custom or style of dress, etiquette, and socializing.  However when it comes to someone other than the dictionary the definition may vary.  Fashion is a very opinioned and personal thing; it signifies something different to mostly everyone. In my opinion fashion is a way to express yourself, not only does it represent ones physical appearance but mental feelings as well.  For instance if I am feeling really dapper I may have on a cute top and heels, maybe even a dress.  If I am feeling under the weather I may wear just a plain ole t-shirt and a jacket, nothing to cute.  Fashion can totally show ones mood without even having to ask.  To get a few different perspectives I asked the girls in my journalism class to explain to me and everyone else what fashion is to them.

After hearing what Natasha, Pricilla, and Scarlet had to say about fashion  I hope everyone can come up with a definition for themselves.
Express yourself through fashion in every way you can; show how you are truly feeling through fashion.  Which leads me to ask, what is fashion to you?

Is It Always A Good Thing to Follow Trends??

Everyone follows trends whether it be doing drugs or wearing the correct color nail polish, trends are followed. Why are they followed? Is it the cool thing to do?  What is it? Following trends can lead to a slight diversion of conformity in its own little way.  Set unique standers dont just wear something or do something beacuse everyone else is. Wear funky clothes and stand out, don't just blend in; no one wants that. The same goes for bad things, not just fashion; some girls think, "oh if she smokes pot so should everyone else." Now that's not the way it has to be, be unique in the decisions that are made. Do not follow the crowds and their trends, be a trendsetter and set the trends for everyone else.  It is way better that way!
This season maybe buy a really fun coat and wear it with bright colored tights and rustic boots, the idea may sound weird but put it all together and the outfit will definitely be a hit!  Yearn to be a trend setter, not a follower of the trends!

Senior Spot Light!

This goes out to all seniors! The time to visit colleges has finally arrived; but the idea of looking nice on the college tours is regularly over looked. It may not seem like an important detail, but your appearance could be a crucial factor when it comes to these nerve-racking interviews. When the time comes to visit college campuses there are many things a student should be prepared for, one of the most important being an interview. Whether it is with an admissions councilor or financial aid advisor, these interviews are of the utmost level of importance. Yes, being prepared mentally is a big deal, but being prepared physically is important as well.
A nice dress with heels for girls and khaki slacks with a tailored button down shirt for guys gives off a confidant vibe. However, if overdressed one could look as if they were trying too hard, they could also look over confident.  Although if one wore a t-shirt and jeans they would look unprepared and unprofessional.  Make an effort to look nice when visiting colleges, it could be a very important factor.

Fall Is FINALLY Here!!

The season that has been so eagerly awaited for is here...FINALLY, and the weather feels fantastic. It is also great to hear that the temperature is going to continually drop. By Thursday and Friday the high temperature is said to be around 7o degrees and the low is said to be in the high forties or low fifties. What a perfect temperature! Enough about that, it is time to talk fall fashions. Say good-bye to the summer tops and shorts and hello to fall clothing. It is about time!

Girls, get ready for cute coats and boots. The perfect look for fall is a fun sweater with boots tucked in a stylish pair of jeans, or a sweater dress with boots is cute as well. Deerfield-Windsor's homecoming football game is Friday night, and the temperature is bound to drop by the time it gets dark; it is about time for some fall football! Bring out the coats, turtlenecks, and comfortable, cozy sweaters. Since it is indeed the homecoming game, everyone is expected to look cute. Blow everyone out of the water with the hottest fall trends! To look extra spunky add fun tights to a dress to add an extra bit of flair.

Understandably not everyone has they best fall fashion sense, but no fear help is here. Anthropologie, along with Urban Outfitters have great ideas for the perfect fall look.   Fall is here, so take advantage of the weather and look extra cute!

Super Star Turned Fashion Designer…Pathetic???

Fame these days has become totally overrated, if your famous and you write a book it’s amazing.  When an average Joe writes a book it may take ten years to get published and then overly scrutinized by critics abroad.  The world of high fashion is no different.  It’s almost second nature when a female becomes famous she immediately creates a fashion line to cash in on her fame.  Whether it’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s fashion in Wal-Mart, Avril Lavigne’s line at Kohl’s, or Katherine Heigle’s scrubs available on the Internet; it seems that almost all female celebrities choose this route. However, when frequenting these places it is easy to see that the apparel is tacky and the stars would not be caught dead wearing them.

Lauren Conrad, famous star from Laguna Beach and The Hills, is no exception.  Conrad seems to have hit the jackpot because her line is already in the high-end retail store, Bloomingdale’s. The question is, are Conrad’s clothes just a major hit because the young starlet is the designer?   Her clothing is nothing out of the ordinary; anyone could come up with these ideas.  Sure they’re cute, but definitely not anything spectacular. For instance, her designs are very simple, and very similar to the designers she wears.

The sad thing is that everyone will buy these clothes.  Why is this the case? The simple reality is that it is because celebrities design them.  Since many idolize the stars, they make millions from these average designs.  Is it because they are famous that the clothing lines are such a hit?  It sure does seem that way.

The Greatest Day of the Year!

So how well do you know the cast of Grey’s Anatomy?  Just the other day I took a poll on the cast of Grey’s Anatomy, I learned everything from which designer ad’s “McDreamy” appeared in (Versace) to Ellen Pompeo’s first childhood word (pepperoni if you are interested). All this talking about Grey’s Anatomy makes my excitement for the season premier even greater.  This Thursday on ABC at nine o’clock the first show of the season will air and I cannot wait. It is going to be a two-hour premier – it doesn’t get any better than that.  Lets just hope some of the drama from last season is left out.  Yes, I loved mostly

everything about the last season I just felt that we could have done with out some of the fuss.  I love the Grey’s Anatomy story line. Even if I am disappointed with the episode, when the show comes to an end and Grey continues her monologue from the beginning by rapping up all of the chaos and tragedy that occurred in that episode I am pulled back into the addiction.   Thinking about the lives saved and the romance that occurs only makes me more and more ready for the Thursday.  Grey’s Anatomy is and always will be my favorite show, no matter how intense it seems to get.

What a Job!

Selena Bridges is a fashion nut; ever since she was a little girl fashion has been her life. Her love of fashion landed her a job at Saks Fifth Avenue, and she was not just the head shoe department; she immediately became marketing director. Which entails planning fashion shows, brunches to show off what the store has to offer, luncheons to preview the up and coming new look and the list of amazing events to plan goes on and on. It is safe to say Bridges had her hands full, but loved every moment of the chaos. However, Bridges had a very strict boss, she never knew what to expect from him, but she said it made her a stronger worker in the long run. When looking to obtain a job like this, a major in sales and marketing is a must. Bridges had a litte extra help getting the job, she knew the previous marketing director. When asked what her favorite part of the job was, she responded by saying, "Everyday there was no telling what would be in store for me, never was one day the same as the other." It is safe to say that her job was not the same old song and dance. Not to mention the great perks of having a job like this; major discounts! After interviewing Selena Bridges on her job as Marketing Director of Saks Fifth Avenue everyone should want to go out and get a job like this! Work can be fun, this is proof!

The Infamous 90210

As you all know 90210 is back and in full swing; with even more drama, hotter boys and amazing fashion. However last week the fashion wasn't so amazing; Annie the new girl on campus just moved to Beverly Hills from Kansas. Wow, what a transformation., so the fashion difference is pretty drastic. In result Annie's fashion sense is pretty lacking, but luckily there was a slight transformation from last weeks episode to this weeks. Last week Annie wore pretty generic outfits, justa tank and jeans, maybe a little mini skirt; but still nothing outstanding like Naomi. This week Annie's fisrt outfit is cute, a tank tucked into a high waisted skirt and a belt to finish it off. However, when it comes time for family night were back to the same ole same ole; a tank and jean mini skirt. Not to cute; but enough about bad fashioned Annie lets move on to Naomi. Namoi dresses quite well, she makes a compplete 360 degrees from scandelous to classy. One day she will have on a sweater and a conservative skirt, to a blue jean jumpsiut. Major transforamtion. Hopefully next week will have some fashion surprises in store.

The Hottest T.V. Show of this Season: Gossip Girl!

As you all know the seasons are beginning to change, not only in the weather department but the television world as well. Our favorite shows from last year are coming back on, and some new ones as well. Coming back this season we have Gossip Girl, The Hills, Greys Anatomy, and several others. The new shows coming on this season include, Privileged and 90210; these shows are the ones teenagers will be the most excited about. For many reasons, one being the juicy drama and of-course the amazing fashion! Which I will be filling you in on like crazy, and I cant wait. So far all of the shows that have been named have aired already, except for Privileged, which is coming on for the first time tomorrow night at 9 P.M. . But enough about the shows themselves, I'm here to talk about the fashion, whether it be fantastic or just totally crazy, and I mean crazy in a bad way. You will know everything and more about it! And I'm going to start off talking about my personal favorite, Gossip Girl!

In Gossip Girl, the wardrobe of Serena VanderWoodse
n and Blair Waldorf is absolutely incredible! You can't tell there in high school, there apparel is that of a wealthy New Yorker, which they are. Their clothing looks like it should be in magazines, and it probably is. Last weeks episode showed this elegant "white party," everyone is to wear head to toe white.
Serena wore an amazing floor length dress that
looked beautiful on her; Blair wore a white eyelet mini dress with a headband to add a little twist. Even when running to the little downtown of the Hamptons Blair and Serena look so fashionable. It's crazy! I would love to be able to dress like the kids on Gossip Girl, but thats kind of shooting for the stars. However, we can mimic the apparel easily. So take a look a
t these pictures and try your best to look like the girls on your favorite hit
series! xoxo

Acceorize!

Accesories are a definite must in the world of fashion! Wether it be the right purse, earrings, necklace. Anything that adds flare to your outfit is great. There are several types of purses; sachels, clutches, hobo bags...pretty much anything your heart desires. A purse, along with any accesory, makes a boring outfit POP!! Thats why I love them. Earrings are so fun; there are so many different pairs and sometimes it's hard to pick which ones you want to wear. If you have a classy outfit on, pearls look perfect, but if you have on a funky top, dangley hoops or even chandiler earrings standout like crazy. Diamond studs also make quite a statement. The same goes for necklaces, I wear a simple diamond cross every day, I never take it off. It is simple and elegant; I love it. Back to purses, the purse I carry now is chartreuse, it is fantastic; even when I just simply wear a tee and jeans you can see me from a mile away. Sometimes a good clutch is a necessity, I am going to Athens this weekend and don't want to be lugging around this huge bag; a clutch is exactly what I need. It can hold my phone, money, tickets for the game, and of course a stick of lip gloss!!
Sometimes the need for accesories are looked over, but girls great accesories are a must. So go buy some cute earrings, maybe a simple necklace and a standout bag. Make sure your outfit pops, no one wants a plane jane outfit. Spice it up with accesories!

SHOES SHOES and more SHOES

There are so many different styles of shoes; you have sandals, stilettos, wedges, boots, the classic ballet flat and many more. My favorites are BOOTS, you can put boots with almost anything, especially dresses and skirts. I also love a good sandal, you cant go wrong with those; throw them on with cute shorts and jeans, your good to go! It is necessary to have at least one good pair of heels, they make everything look better and a tad more formal. You have to love them, I sure do. I also find it pretty necessary to have a couple pairs of sandals; you can always go with the classic, "Jack Rodgers." I have worn mine out, they go with anything and have a large assortment of colors. Color, everyone needs some colorful shoes, basically shoes that just make a statement. Add them to a pair of jeans and a plain top and you have an outfit thats definitely going to get noticed; and thats in a good way of course! Shoes are a necessity in having a knockout look, thats why statement shoes are a must; just one crazy pair and your good to go!

Football Season Here We Come!!

It's finally here...FOOTBALL SEASON!!! I am so excited and I'm sure all of you are as well, and Im sure your thinking what in the world should I wear to the games? Thats exactly what I'm here for; when I think football season I think cool weather and cute coats, but not in Albany, Georgia. Or at least not now; we will be in that stage in a couple months, and when we get there your going to know everything and more about finding great coats. My favorite piece of clothing possible! However, we can't think about that now...sadly.

For now a cute outfit that will be comfortable in the heat is what you should be finding. A cute sun dress or a casual cotton dress will be perfect. Also a funky tank or blouse with white or blue jean sorts would be precious. A fun skirt and a white or black tee would be fashionable and breezy as well, which is always a great thing when dealing with the weather we have. Our first game is Thursday night, Deerfield vs. Tattnall, and we are oh so excited!! Shortly there w
ill be pictures available to show you what me and all of my stylish friends wear to the first game of the season!
