Fame these days has become totally overrated, if your famous and you write a book it’s amazing. When an average Joe writes a book it may take ten years to get published and then overly scrutinized by critics abroad. The world of high fashion is no different. It’s almost second nature when a female becomes famous she immediately creates a fashion line to cash in on her fame. Whether it’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s fashion in Wal-Mart, Avril Lavigne’s line at Kohl’s, or Katherine Heigle’s scrubs available on the Internet; it seems that almost all female celebrities choose this route. However, when frequenting these places it is easy to see that the apparel is tacky and the stars would not be caught dead wearing them.
Lauren Conrad, famous star from Laguna Beach and The Hills, is no exception. Conrad seems to have hit the jackpot because her line is already in the high-end retail store, Bloomingdale’s. The question is, are Conrad’s clothes just a major hit because the young starlet is the designer? Her clothing is nothing out of the ordinary; anyone could come up with these ideas. Sure they’re cute, but definitely not anything spectacular. For instance, her designs are very simple, and very similar to the designers she wears.
The sad thing is that everyone will buy these clothes. Why is this the case? The simple reality is that it is because celebrities design them. Since many idolize the stars, they make millions from these average designs. Is it because they are famous that the clothing lines are such a hit? It sure does seem that way.
